When I was a tyke, a friend of mine had me over and showed me his smuggled copy of (I think) Penthouse. He revealed a naked woman flaunting her genitals in an A-line fashion. Outwardly, I didn't reveal my indifference to this. I mean, barely-teens telling each other they don't care about naked women flaunting their genitals in an A-line fashion just was a taboo, thinking one would be considered weird. I don't know when I outgrew my gender neutrality, but I'm pretty sure I was into women by then, perhaps not.
But even today, I still feel somewhat indifference to such depictions of clear sexual arousal. This doesn't mean I'm not a Heterosexual (I am), but for some reason, a scantily clad woman is more appealing to me over a naked woman. I also skipped the vanilla sex stuff and went straight to the kinky stuff. I could claim to be an old soul because of this fact, but I can't claim to be that smart on the other hand.

Not at all Trust me, it was actually pretty darned interesting.
I actually felt REALLY bad for my first boyfriend, cause when he showed me his I only showed vague curiosity and made some sort of comment about elephant trunks... I think it really depressed him that I wasn't immediately interested in jumping his bones (never really got around to it ever...)
In any case yeah I agree, I find a cute guy completely covered (MMM, tuxedos....) or just wearing jeans or just boxers and a button-up shirt way cuter than a guy running about bare naked. It's only rather recently I even got interested in kissing let alone any of the other things (I tend to be a late bloomer )
Plus, I think a lot of guys I know would secretly agree with you. Its more fun to imagine what the fabric is hiding than to just have the full naked image handed to them free of effort

Your boyfriend didn't realize that a penis alone is not what turns on a woman. If they had more testosterone, then perhaps, but a woman is turned on by a combination of things. I don't always know what that combo consists of, but it almost always involves doing the dishes.
And I know what it's like to be a late bloomer. Late at tying shoes, late at figuring out stop-drop-and-roll, late at puberty and facial hair, late at getting the latest video game, etc. etc.
